4 Cards with all the same supplies!

Maximize your crafting by using all the same supplies and making 4 different card layouts! How versatile is that? First up, the Slim Line Card. Make your own envelope OR pop this into a regular business envelope and slap a postage stamp on it.

Measurements:

Real Red Card base: 8 ½” x 7”
Basic Black layer: 8 ¼” x 3 ¼”
Patterned Paper layer: 3” x 6”, 7/8” x 3” (two)

The beauty of this card being 4" x 4" is that it uses up that left over piece of Real Red from the Slim Line card AND it's a gift card holder! Glue the left, right and bottom edges of the inside Basic Black to create a little pocked for the gift card!

Measurements:

Real Red Card base: 4” x 8”
Basic Black layer (outside): 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”
Basic Black layer (inside): 4” x 1 ¼”
Patterned Paper layer (outside): 3” x 3”
Patterned Paper layer (inside): 3 ¾’ x 1”

This card features a simple yet fun extra panel. Score the front at 2 1/8" and 4 1/4" folding the front flap back. Add your patterned paper and focal point on the left side of the flap and you've added loads of dimension to your card.

Measurements:

Real Red Card base: 4 ¼” x 5 ½”
(score at 2 1/8” & 4 ¼”)
Basic Black layer: 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”
Pattern Paper #1: 3” x 3”
Patterned Paper #2: 1 ¾” x 3 ¾”

Card #4 is a standard card with a twist! Score at 4 1/4" as usual, then trim 1" off the front of the card. Your pretty 1" strip of patterned paper will show through and interest to the card. For the ribbon, place a piece of Stampin' Seal, Stampin' Seal + or Tear and Tape down where you want the ribbon to appear. Gather your ribbon and place it on the adhesive. If you need to reposition it, just pull it up and place again. A fun way to use just a little ribbon and add a fringe to your card!

Measurements:

Real Red card base: 8 ½” x 5 ½”
(cut off 1” from front)
Basic Black layer: 3” x 5 ¼”
Patterned Paper (inside): 1” x 5 ¼”
Patterned Paper (outside): 3 ¼” x 2 ½”

January Team Swap Card

I always love receiving swap cards in the mail. It's like a little surprise each time! Here is my swap for January mailed out to my team members who play along. This is a new stamp set to me from the January to June Mini Catalogue called Wildlife Wonder (#157923 for $33). This nature stamp set is right up my alley as I love all the images and the greetings.

I stamped the bear in Early Espresso then grabbed my white Watercolor Pencil (you know...the one you rarely use) and coloured in the areas where the stamp is less pronounced. This gave it sooo much texture don't you think? I added a greeting and a few die cuts from the Mountain Air bundle in matching Pear Pizzazz (yeah...I know it looks like Old Olive. I just re-inked my ink pads). BUT the best part, was running that Crumb Cake layer through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine with the new Stripes embossing folder for the win!

And just because you gotta have your colour coordination, grab your Pearl Basic Jewels and colour them with the Soft Suede Stampin' Blends. The dark one is a great match for Early Espresso!

Measurements:

Card base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" and folded in half
Layer Early Espresso: 3 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Layer Crumb Cake: 3" x 5 1/4"
Scrap Basic White for stamping and die cutting the trees

Let's Make a Slim Card!

Let's face it, when we're talking "slim" cards are the only term with which I can associate! Slim cards are not new by any means but come out in waves, I'd say! No fancy envelopes needed - although you could make your own - just pop this baby in a regular business envelope and you're ready to hand it out.

The Measurements are simple:

  • Card base: 7" x 8 1/2" (leaves you with a 4" x 8 1/2" piece to use one another card)
  • Score the 7" in half at 3 1/2" and fold
  • Decorate the front as you like. Can you see how the designer used up scraps on this one? Fabulously easy.

Daffodil Afternoon on a Cold Wintry Day

We're a good foot deep in snow here with visions of spring flowers dancing in my head! Looking forward to the pop of daffodil that will appear in the gardens in a few months and in the meantime, sharing this bright card with you! It's fun to use any colourful floral pattern but when the pack of paper is completely FREE, that's a little more special, right? Got my Daffodil Afternoon 12" x 12" paper pack with a minimum $60 order. Score!

If you follow me you know I love butterflies, too, so had to add one onto the card from the Tulip Fields Bundle. Yes I know I have lots of butterflies...but what's one more eh?

Measurements:
Card Base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored in the middle at 4 1/4" and folded
Layer: Patterned Paper 5 1/4" x 4"
Layer: Vellum 3" x 4 1/4"

2-4-6-8 Fun Fold Card

What could be easier than scoring the card in 4 places and having it be a stand up pop-up card? You can do this!! Below I'm showing both views of the finished card. First the front:
And here is the top view looking down to show off the cube shape it makes. And what's great is it fits into a standard envelope.
How is this magical card made? It's super easy!!
  1. Start with a card base measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".
  2. With the 8 1/2" side horizontal in your Simply Scored or Stampin' Trimmer, score at 2", 4", 6" and 8". This will leave a 1/2" tab.
  3. Add adhesive to your 1/2" tab, and fold up your cube so the tab is on the inside.
  4. Decorate your panels as desired!

Looking beyond with Island Vibes

At first blush, the Island Vibes stamp set looked a little light on creative options with just 3 stamps. But oh what you can do when you play around with it.

To get that full on leafy outline on my Basic White layer, I simply stamped the image repeatedly around starting in the bottom left corner. By stamping onto a larger than needed piece of paper, I was about the cut off the straight edges of this stamp. Not just a pretty face, eh? The finished size of this layer is 3 3/4" x 5" but I started with a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of cardstock. I love how it turned out!

Measurements:

Card base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored in the middle at 4 1/4" and folded
Layer: Cinnamon Cider 4" x 5 1/4"
Layer: Basic White 3 3/4" x 5" (finished size - see note above)

Greetings, Kind Human

Ack! This guy is so adorable! My friend Lisa Henderson sent me this card in a swap and it just brings a smile to my face. It really shows off how you can use the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper for everyday cards - great versatility!

Measurements

Card base: Thick Basic White 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" (or go rogue and use 4 1/4" x 11")
Layers: TWO complimentary patterns each measuring 4" wide by 3" tall. Overlap them in the middle and cover with a strip of cardstock or foil as shown measuring 1/2" x 4".

All that's left is to stamp an image on any shape as your focal point and add a greeting on some scrap. Then sprinkle with some embellishments for a little sparkle here and there.

Daffodil Afternoon in January!

I'm ever hopeful...even in January...of seeing Daffodils in southern Ontario. That's the optimist in me!

Today's card is a bright and cheery one with several layers. While I've used a die to stamp on, you can cut a rectangle or any other shape and achieve the same result. Thinking ahead to Easter with this card, for sure.

Measurements

Card base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored in the middle at 4 1/4" and folded
Layer: 5" x 3 3/4" in Old Olive
Layer: 4 7/8" x 3 5/8" in your pattern paper of choice. I used Daffodil Afternoon #158127
Layer: 3" x 4 1/4" in Basic White. I used the Stitched So Sweetly dies to cut it #151690
Ribbon: 8"

Pop Out Card using Memories & More Card Pack

Oh we did a fun fold card in The Creative Inkster Escape Room on Monday January 17th! Don't worry it's all recorded for you below so you won't miss a thing.

The star of the show was our fabulous Heart & Home Memories & More card pack. This is a very overlooked item in our catalogue. Here's what I love about them:

  1. 50 Cards and sticker sheets for $13.50
  2. That's 36 cards measuring 3" x 4" and 14 measuring 4" x 6" with beautifully pretty images and in some cases greetings on them = no stamping required!
  3. They're definitely more than just for memory keeping!
  4. Coordination: with at least 6 of our colours and all the yummy embellishments and ribbon that go along with them
  5. There are 2 of each card in the pack
Here are two views of the card I made live on Monday, January 17th:

I just had to try it out with another Memories & More card pack (Hand-Penned #155505):

And also with our Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper (#157616):

Island Vibes Fun Fold Card

How about making a really simple Fun Fold card that the recipient will go - WOW! She made this for me? Yes.You.Can. Let me tell you how!

Start with your basic card base: 11" x 4 1/4". Score in the middle at 5 1/2".

Now, slide that card front into your paper trimmer and cut off the front at 1 3/4" past the fold. This will give you a piece of the card front that measures 4 1/4" wide x 3 3/4" tall. Cut that piece to 1 3/4" x 4 1/4". This is your bottom piece! Use the middle piece (2" x 4 1/4") on another project.

Stamp, punch/die cut/fussy cut out a shape that will join the top and the bottom.

To get the running stamped images, I stamped the 3 pineapples onto a piece of Basic White that measured 3" x 4". I cut it in half along the 3" side to give me to pieces measuring 1 1/2" x 4".
I told you it was simple!

Driving By Stamp Set - Get me for FREE!

Isn't this card stinkin' cute? Makes a wonderful special greeting for a friend who likes cars, got a new car, or just for popping by!

So how did I make the traffic light? Turns out our Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green card stock are the perfect colours. Cut out a circle of each with our Layering Circles Dies. The black base is made using a piece of Basic Black cardstock that measures 3/4" x 5". Then I die cut 3 of the shaped from the Ornate Frames Dies pictured below (turn sideways). Just add your car!

Organizational Tip: Re-Inking your Ink Pads and Storage Ideas!

How do you store your ink pads, re-inkers and Stampin' Write Markers? My customer Bonnie recently asked me a bit about storage and it got me thinking we should tackle this in a post so here goes!

My storage is mostly vertical in DVD case racks from Ikea. Each Colour Family has a shelf and in there I have the 10 ink pads, one of our stamp cases with the Stampin' Write Markers and one of our retired large stamp cases for the re-inkers. Here's a picture of my Regals shelf.

VIDEO on how to re-ink your ink pads

In the video I mention Bev Adams - an independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator in the US - who provides oodles of amazing resources like stamp case inserts. Here's a link so you can download and print some for yourself:

https://bevadams.com/clear-case-inserts-for-supplies/

My Top 3 tips for re-inking your ink pads:

  1. Always buy the re-inker when you get a new ink pad. It's currently $5 and you know you won't have it otherwise when you need it.
  2. Re-ink them when you think you need to. Like windshield washer fluid in your car...don't wait for a cold sunny day in winter to do it.
  3. Check and double-check the name of the re-inker with the name of the ink pad when re-inking. You know I've made this mistake.
Happy Sunday!

Happy & Heartfelt Valentine's Card

Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper is the perfect backdrop for this Valentine's Card. And guess what I found in the Happy & Heartfelt stamp set that I just got? The perfect "I Love You" greeting!

To add some extra dimension to this card, I used the Dotty Hearts embossing folder on a small layer inside the stitched rectangle. So sweet, I think! Have you started your Valentine's cards yet?

Driving By on a Flashback Friday

Oh wow...it's time to flashback 60 years to the VW Minibus days! Weren't these just a hoot? For their design it always looked like they were too top heavy and would tip but alas, they trundled along famously.

Today's card from Driving By - yours free with a min. $60 order during Sale-A-Bration - just makes me smile at the memory and the bright fun colours. I enjoyed colouring in the minibus and using this fun fold.

To create the fold, score your 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" card base at both 2 1/8" and 4 1/4". Fold back the 2 1/8" panel and add your layered circles with the focal image on it. Leaves a spot on the inside to add a thin strip of the matching patterned paper (Sunshine & Rainbows which is also FREE with a min. $60 order in Canada). So cute and a great way to use up those case off pieces from your 6" x 6" papers. Enjoy!

Drop everything and let's go chasing butterflies!

What a great idea, right? Drop all those responsibilities and commitments and just run out into a meadow and chase butterflies. Well...I might need to wait a few months as it's currently -21C here in Southern Ontario. But Spring is coming, I just know it!

Today's card features the absolutely adorable girl from the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Catching Butterflies. I can't get over how sweet she is! I stamped the images with Tuxedo Black Memento ink so that I could use my Stampin' Blends for deep rich colouring. I ended up stamping the butterfly flock (is it a flock?) twice and the colours used were: Highland Heather, Flirty Flamingo and So Saffron. What do you think?

Catching Butterflies #158108 FREE with $60 order

I felt like a Wink of Stella was needed to quickly add shiny flecks. Do you have this brush? Well you need it...#141897 $11.00 Cdn. Remember to add it to your order. And it lasts a really long time! When it does start to fade, add some re-inker in your favourite colour to the barrel and you'll have coordinating sparkle to add to all your projects.

Gettin' the Island Vibes!

It's January 2022 and we're in a pseudo-lockdown so no flying off to the islands for this Canadian right now, but I'm still getting my Island Vibes! The Sale-A-Bration stamp set is the same name, Island Vibes, has fine detail in each of the stamps. To add more texture to the stamped layer, I ran it through the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder after stamping. How's that for packing a WOW?!?!

The greeting is from another one of our Sale-A-Bration freebies, Special Moments with 21 unique greetings to add to your stash! Check these stamp sets up close here:

Start the Car!

This card reminds me so much of the Ikea commercial where the woman is so excited by her great purchases that she shouts to her husband to "Start the Car!" and comes running out to the parking lot.

Have you seen it? So funny!

With this in mind, I made today's card using the Driving By stamp set from Sale-A-Bration. Stinkin' cute, eh? And pretty easy to layer onto a card. First off add some patterned paper to your card front. That will give a beautiful palette to choose your colours from. Next stamp the car on some scrap with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Colour first (I used Blends...use whatever you have handy!) and hand cut it out. Always a good idea to colour first and cut out last.

I will often put a piece of ribbon or cardstock across two pieces of DSP to break up the design a little. Makes a good spot to add my circles, too! Slap a greeting on and sprinkle with embellishments for some bling. Love how this turned out! And just like the Ikea lady, this was a great deal since the stamp set was free during Sale-A-Bration. Bonus!

Are you an Awesome Otter?

Oh these guys are so flippin' cute! They make my heart sing. And the Coastal Cabana colours remind me so much of the ocean or the Aquarium/Zoo in Toronto. We'll be back there one day, little fellas, to watch you dance and play in your happy habitats. In the meantime, bring them home in the form of the Awesome Otters stamp set FREE with your minimum $60 order during Sale-A-Bration.
