For the little Construction Workers celebrating birthdays!

Guess who's getting this fun card? Someone I know loves trucks and cards so for sure I had to get the Construction Zone stamp set. To create the striped card front, I used 3/4" strips of Crushed Curry and Basic Black and layered them up diagonally. I found if you start with 3 strips of 6" x 3/4" and from the centre you will have enough to fill in the shorter sides. Then it was all about showing off the vehicles stamped in Tuxedo Black memento and coloured in with my Stampin' Blends (Black, Daffodil and Granite). They needed some matted backgrounds to make it pop and just a tiny bit of left over ribbon. All set for the next birthday!

Notes of Nature in elegant neutrals and white

This week we had Avid Stampers class and participants made this simple and elegant card. The Notes of Nature stamp set and dies are soon retiring so if you like them, snatch them up! The bundle is $64.75 and has gorgeous leaf images and greetings.

We used the Perennial Postage dies for the layers on which the leaves are mounted. After die cutting, we used 2nd generation (that's stamping off once) with Pecan Pie ink and the splatter image to add some interest to the rectangles. All three were layered onto an embossed card front with the Timber 3D embossing folder. Such texture! And to get the coloured linen thread, we used a Stampin' Blend in Misty Moonlight to pull it all together. What do you think?

Patchwork Pieces Dies

Same Patchwork Pieces dies from yesterday except instead of removing them and alternating patterns, I left the die cut triangles in place matted onto some Pretty Peacock cardstock just slightly larger than the frame. I do like the stitched look. While I was die cutting, I added the Feel Better Soon greeting from the Wanted to Say Die set. It's nice to have the words and then a matted piece they fit onto for pop on the page.

Such a cheery greeting to brighten someone's day!

Cheerful Birthday Card

Today's card features the Patchwork Pieces Dies which are retiring so get these before they go! To get the two tone look, I die cut two of these out and alternated the patterns around to show off both sides of this pretty paper (now retired). My focal point is from the Translucent Florals stamp set with a celebratory Happy Birthday sentiment in front of the coordinating ribbon in Lemon Lime Twist. Beautiful bright and cheerful card!

And a second version with the left overs:

Perennial Lavender a returning favourite!

Made today's card with my team earlier this month as one of our four make 'n take projects! We get together at least once monthly to craft, chat and learn. It's amazing the tidbits you pick up just playing with paper around the table. Everyone brings a good story to share as well. So if you didn't get this paper yet - Perennial Lavender - you're in luck as it's carrying over into our new Annual Catalogue coming out May 1. That's unusual - they almost all retire - but we haven't had near enough fun with it yet!

Let's all go fishing with this adorable masculine card

Perfect masculine card from my March Monthly Card class. This one really shows off the patterned paper in the Let's Go Fishing pack which coordinates with a the Gone Fishing bundle. I haven't used it near enough and it's carrying over into our new Annual Catalogue so yeah - there will be more! The adorable mini cork rounds embellishments are the perfect touch for this card. Enjoy!

Big Dimensions with the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder

This Layered Florals embossing folder has so much detail in it! Two sizes and types of flowers, leaves and an incredible amount of dimension. Perfect backdrop for my card that all it needed was a little soft ribbon, greetiing and a few gems to top it off! If you've taken a class with me, you've learned how to use the same punch for your greeting on white as the layer behind it. Just offset them slightly to create a bit of a faux matte. Happy Monday!

Here's this weeks' Elmira Community Living Group project. They loved this promise of Spring with the Easter Bunny just around the corner - no pun intended!

Those are some old leaf punched shapes - you may have this in your stash. I punched 3 different colours times 9 sets for each wreath. Gave some fullness to the greenery.
Easy project for everyone in the group to make resulting in a big hit!
Love using my stamps, punches and dies for home decor projects. What would you create?

A heart-shaped Hot Air Balloon from Lighter than Air

Sharing today's card from my Silver Sister Desiree Spenst. This heart-shaped balloon is a different version of these balloon cards from Lighter than Air. It's a reminder, too, that you don't always need to emboss a full layer to get texture. On Desiree's card, the embossed layer covers about two-thirds of the card front. I really like a vellum layer to show off what's behind and add some soft dimension, too. Enjoy your weekend!

Sending a little note to say hello with Notes of Nature

This one's a completely different take on the Notes of Nature bundle which has so far been loads of neutrals and earth tones. Wow - a pop of colour - from Genevieve Ko. Looks like a page torn out of a notebook, right? Enjoy this little note as you scroll (troll?) websites for inspiration!

Cutest Cows on a floating background

Sweet holy cow! This guy is just so darling for any occasion. Leanne Livingstone - another of my Silver Sisters - from SK sent me today's entry in our swap. You're really seeing those strips of Lighter than Air patterned paper lifting off the card front. This is a floating layers technique where they are on a piece of window sheet for effect. Hope this brings a big smile to your face today!

Inspiration from the Inspirational Sketches Stamp Set

Oh such a lovely card featuring Inspirational Sketches with soft Smoky Slate and Basic White accents. Just goes to show you don't have to jazz up a card to make it beautiful and fitting. Today's card comes from my "sister" Tamara Bertram in Edmonton, AB. How do you get that stamping over an embossed layer? You don't...you stamp it first then emboss the layer. Great effect, eh? Thanks Tam for this card perfect for a monthly card class or stamp a stack.

Painted Lavender Bundle in a refreshing layout

Thanks to my friend Diana Langman for today's beautiful card. What I love about this card is how duplicatable the layout is: use your shapes (stitched circles here), a greeting and a focal point all on an embossed layer. The colours are gorgeous as well. Thank Diana for this awesome inspiration!

Notes of Nature Collaging

The Notes of Nature bundle really lends itself to collage stamping with various lined and image elements. Through this technique you're creating your own patterned paper in your colours to coordinate with the embellishments and cardstock in your stash! Suzanne Cadieux sent me this card in a swap - the greeting translates to "Big Hugs" - and shows off many of our neutral colours beautifully. Pebbled Path and Pecan Pie are a great compliment to gold foil and the cork embellishments. Love this!

Hot Air Balloon Bundle - flashback to 1967 with the 5th Dimension!

Are you old enough to remember...."Up, Up and Away" by the 5th Dimension? You may be surprised to learn that it was released on their album in 1967! That's what I always think of when I read the greeting stamped on today's card. It's timeless.

Soft colours for this card in shades of Fresh Freesia and Balmy Blue. Have an uplifting day!

Cutest Cows

Isn't this cow cute just peeking out of the forest archway? On this one the die is cut in two colours of green and layered together for depth. Makes a pretty backdrop for the punched out cow and I can see using this for arch for a wedding card as well. Anything you want to highlight in the centre there. The flowers around the branches are a really nice touch, too. Enjoy this beautiful card designed and shared with me by Denise Moss.

Lovely & Sweet full on textured card

Whenever I'm in a swap with Elizabeth Green, I know it's going to be multi-layered with loads of texture. I think she nailed this one with Lovely & Sweet Bundle! You can just feel the texture from the picture. Stamping on the white layer then embossing it. The ribbon and the cork rounds are a very textured touch. And with that beautifully coloured flower as the focal point. Thanks, Elizabeth!

Notes of Cheer Kit & Alternative Projects

Have you ever bought a Stampin' Up! kit? It's crafting in a box with everything you need to make the project(s). There are kits with stamp sets and ink spots, others with no stamping involved, some that make up to 9 cards and others that are project kits like a wreath or magnetic board. Here's the kit and the 3 different cards (3 of each so 9 cards in total) that you make with it:

Item #156991 $18.00

On Saturday, March 9, 2024, I presented in a FB group on using the Notes of Cheer card kit showing specifically 4 alternatives from the contents of the kit plus extra supplies. Here are my 4 projects: 3 cards and a box!

The Bee Mine stamp set has this lovely hive stamp which is perfect as a background in Petal Pink ink onto Petal Pink cardstock all layered up onto the matching cardbase colour. Enjoy!

Berry Harvest Spotlight Technique

An oldie but a goodie technique: The Spotlight. Easy to achieve by stamping a large background image on a layer. Punch out a segment of it and colour that in. Matte it onto a shape (circle used here but could be anything) that is just slightly larger than the punched shape. Pop back onto the front and look at what you get! And with just a wee bit of colouring. This is the Berry Harvest stamp from the Annual Catalogue. Beautiful, eh?

Sweet Easter basket

Some sweet treats for my Sorority Sisters at our meeting last night! Everyone loves the Cadbury mini Easter eggs and this little basket is so sweet. Super easy to make with some scoring and trimming. I whipped up 8 in no time at all. The handle has the Basics Borders die on either side for decoration. Getting ready for Spring in a big way!

Thoughtful Expressions leaving a thoughtful mark

Sneak Peek at one of the cards we're making at my Monthly Card Class on March 12. Can't make it? Order this class as a kit to go and pick up your supplies in Guelph or ship to you for a small fee. This hummingbird is gorgeous - so much detail! And some stamping on the card front makes it look like fancy patterned paper. Just another great way to use your stamps instead of stamp-die cut-glue on. PM me to hold a spot for you for March's Monthly card class!

Patchwork Dies make for an easy Starburst card anyday!

It's been a while since I've done a card with geometric shapes and a greeting for the focal point! It's kind of a fun card layout but the kicker is this is a die so no funky measurements to figure out! You might not even have noticed the Patchwork Dies in the Annual Catalogue but they are a great set to have in your stash. This is one of the two dies with more cards to come showing its versatility so stay tuned. For this one I cut the die 3 times each time using a different colour of cardstock. Then pieced it together like a puzzle. Great starburst look and the easy way.

Elmira Community Living 3D Valentine's Day Project

A few weeks ago, my friends at the Elmira Community District Living day program made this for their Valentine's Day project! They LOVED using a foam roller brush to add Real Red ink over the wooden die cuts and skewers - all from the Dollar Tree. Once the hearts were hot glued onto skewers, they were pushed into dry floral arranging foam inside the metal bucket. Tip: it helps to hot glue that foam into the base of the bucket.

Added some jewels with Stampin' Dimensionals to adorn the bucket and hearts. They loved this!

Monochromatic Lost Lagoon card featuring the Delicate Forest Bundle

Rounding out our Shoebox Swap cards we have Jane's featuring the Delicate Forest stamp set and die bundle. To achieve the lighter background, first stamp your image full strength (as in the centre one) and with out reinking, stamp again to the left or right. We added a 3rd generation to the right of the original full strength one for effect. Beautiful soft monochromatic in shades of Lost Lagoon. The die cut adds another dimension to the card front with the getting below. Thanks, Jane!
