Community Living Wall Art Project April 2024

A super fun 3D project with the Elmira Community Living group this month! This is built onto an 8" x 10" canvas from the Dollar Store with the black cardstock to really make those bright pink and yellow colours pop. They enjoyed putting this together with loads of dimensionals. Mine stands in the corner of my shelf but could go up on a wall, too.

Love bringing dies and punches to life with these decorative wall projects.

Birthday in the Construction Zone!

I've had a tonne of fun playing with the Construction Zone stamp set. Cute images for children's cards or your favourite City employee LOL! This one I created for a tutorial group I'm in. It also features the Patchwork Pieces dies in alternating colours of Black and Daffodil Delight. You could easily cut strips to get this same pattern idea on your card. Happy Birthday indeed!

Warm textures with Nature's Sweetness Specialty Designer Series Paper

So much texture and warm neutral colours on today's card featuring a retiring stamp set and die bundle, Notes of Nature. The gold faux leather intertwined through the holes from the die really adds to the dimensiona. If you like this patterned paper have no fear as it's carrying on in our 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue - yeah! Enjoy!

Lovely & Sweet in Bubble Bath

I'm so glad this bundle, Lovely & Sweet, is carrying over into the new Annual Catalogue. I wanted to share a card with it in less than "earth tone" colours for a different look altogether. Here I used layers and layers of Bubble Bath. The 3 labels are from Nested Essentials where I used blending brushes to apply a light dusting of Pecan Pie. The embossing folder is Cane Weave 3D and this is the de-bossed version of that folder. I love how this card came together and am glad to share it with you!

Cutest Cows Scene Card

Oh wow! A cute cow giving you a wink from the garden of sunflowers. Just one of the many adorable scenes you can create with the Cutest Cows stamp set. I didn't use the coordinating cow punch on this one but be sure to order it at the same time to save 10% off the bundle. The In Color neutral, Pebbled Path, makes a perfect backdrop for this scene card. Enjoy!

Sending Zinnias

What is your favourite colour of Zinnia? There are so many to choose from! Today I was inspired to use Pumpkin Pie with a centre made of Lemon Lime Twist encircled in Lemon Lolly. A lovely pop of colour on a white label over an embossed layer. The greeting is from the Zinnias stamp set but I only stamped a portion of "Sending flowers and thinking of you" to fit on my label. Two ways to do this: mask the words not being used or as I did, colour just the portion being used with a Stampin' Write marker in the coordinating colour. Worked perfectly!

Trucking Along in bright bold colours!

Allistair is going to LOVE this card! So many trucks in bright colours carrying loads of birthday wishes. I learned a trick working with this Truck punch. To get the window lined up evenly, punch a larger piece with the window first. Then put it back into the punch for the truck shape. Much easier to see for positioning. Enjoy trucking along!

Irresistible Blooms framed by Deckled Rectangles

Pretty colour combination featuring Calypso Coral, Misty Moonlight, Basic White and a hint of Daffodil Delight on the flowers. The Deckled Rectangles (and Deckled Circles) won't appear in the new Annual Catalogue but are still available through our Online Exclusives section. I used the Decked Rectangles to create the frame for this pretty patterned paper. Enjoy!

Unique Doggone Friendly Card

This is definitely one of those, "How'd she do that?" card! Is it patterned paper? No. How was it stamped then to have Daffodil Delight in the background? I stamped this large background stamp in Tuxedo Black Ink onto Basic White cardstock. Then I went back in with my Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend Marker and added the colour in between the more prominent dog images. Doesn't it make a statement? I can't wait to try this with other background stamps.

In my thoughts with Thoughtful Expressions and Petal Park flowers

Today's card feature flowers from these two stamp sets Thoughtful Expressions and Petal Park. I've added my absolutely favourite leaf from the Bough Punch in a coordinating - but not necessarily true to nature - colour of Navy. For colour combination I went with Night of Navy, Soft Sea Foam and Smoky Slate. If you're ever stuck for a colour combo, check out our Color Coach Tool which has 3 combinations for every colour in our line. And that's a lot! Love how this came together.

Be Filled with Happiness

How can you not be filled with happiness to receive this fun fold card? For me it's all about the bird! A bonus with this stamp set - Filled with Happiness - is that the images coordinate with the Modern Oval punch used on this card. The stamp set is retiring at the end of April and I've only just started having fun with it so I know it will remain in my stash. This is one of the 3 unique cards we're making for my April Monthly card class so it will get loads of action. Enjoy!

Super cute (for chickens) from Cutest Cows!

Guess which set these adorable stamps came from? Cutest Cows! They're pretty darn adorable - for chickens. If you know me, you know I have no love for the chickens!
I used some watercolor paper and did a little Balmy Blue ink wash before the stamping. Then added the images and greeting in dark Tuxedo Black Memento ink which is THE ink you want when colouring in with your alcohol based Stampin' Blends. Added a layer in Basic Black cardstock with some black and white gingham ribbon to help it pop off the green (Parakeet Party) cardbase. Super cute (for chickens!)

Simply Lovely and Sweet

Does anyone recognize this plant? From the Lovely and Sweet stamp set in Pecan Pie and Old Olive. I added a wee bit of texture on the layer behind it with one of our 3D embossing folders, Timeworn Type. And the back layer has the splotches built into the words for added texture and no bulk. This would make a pretty set of notecards without greetings. Enjoy!

Trucking Along with a Special Delivery

Sharing this special delivery card which features the Trucking Along stamp set and punch from our Online Exclusives shopping experience. I made this into a "stretch" truck with the extra cab on the back by stamping the truck twice and trimming it. The cardbase is actually the very subtle Soft Sea Foam cardstock with the truck stamped in matching ink on top. The photo doesn't do it justice. The Special Delivery reminds me of the UPS truck that stops by my house almost weekly with orders!

Cutest Cows with their adorable Barn

Some of the Cutest Cows around! To make this card in the shape of a barn, I cut a usual cardbase 11" x 4 1/4". Along the 5 1/2" fold I made a tick mark in pencil 1" in on both sides. Then a 1" tick kmark in pencil on either side of the score line top and bottom. Score and fold. Check out this video where I got the instructions for it. Courtesy Queen B Creatiions.

Hooray for you with Irresistible Blooms!

A quick and simple happy birthday card! These Irresistible Blooms dies are from our Online Exclusives section meaning they're not in any catalogue so you gotta go there to find them. Loads of great finds: stamps, dies, punches, patterned paper and embellishments! The coordinating paper has images that cut out some of the leaves and the flower shown here. No punch or die for the shape of your greeting? Hand cut it around it to remove the excess white space.

Cheerful Daisies in honour of Brett

Today's card is in honour of my team member, Brett, who passed away last October. Brett loved daisies and I always thought of the Cheerful Daisies stamp set as hers. In remembrance of our friend, my team is posting cards on our team page featuring her clean and simple style, favourite colours and images through the month of April. Just thinking about my friend and sharing a little bit of love about her with you all today.

Have a cheerful day!

Notes of Nature with loads of texture

Stamp sets with lots of elements like these in the Notes of Nature set are great for creating backgrounds and texture on your card. For this one I used the colour combination of Lost Lagoon, Moody Mauve and Pebbled Path with splotches and grid paper stamps to add depth. The embossing folder is Painted Texture and it goes literally with everything. Have a happy day!

For the little Construction Workers celebrating birthdays!

Guess who's getting this fun card? Someone I know loves trucks and cards so for sure I had to get the Construction Zone stamp set. To create the striped card front, I used 3/4" strips of Crushed Curry and Basic Black and layered them up diagonally. I found if you start with 3 strips of 6" x 3/4" and from the centre you will have enough to fill in the shorter sides. Then it was all about showing off the vehicles stamped in Tuxedo Black memento and coloured in with my Stampin' Blends (Black, Daffodil and Granite). They needed some matted backgrounds to make it pop and just a tiny bit of left over ribbon. All set for the next birthday!

Notes of Nature in elegant neutrals and white

This week we had Avid Stampers class and participants made this simple and elegant card. The Notes of Nature stamp set and dies are soon retiring so if you like them, snatch them up! The bundle is $64.75 and has gorgeous leaf images and greetings.

We used the Perennial Postage dies for the layers on which the leaves are mounted. After die cutting, we used 2nd generation (that's stamping off once) with Pecan Pie ink and the splatter image to add some interest to the rectangles. All three were layered onto an embossed card front with the Timber 3D embossing folder. Such texture! And to get the coloured linen thread, we used a Stampin' Blend in Misty Moonlight to pull it all together. What do you think?

Patchwork Pieces Dies

Same Patchwork Pieces dies from yesterday except instead of removing them and alternating patterns, I left the die cut triangles in place matted onto some Pretty Peacock cardstock just slightly larger than the frame. I do like the stitched look. While I was die cutting, I added the Feel Better Soon greeting from the Wanted to Say Die set. It's nice to have the words and then a matted piece they fit onto for pop on the page.

Such a cheery greeting to brighten someone's day!

Cheerful Birthday Card

Today's card features the Patchwork Pieces Dies which are retiring so get these before they go! To get the two tone look, I die cut two of these out and alternated the patterns around to show off both sides of this pretty paper (now retired). My focal point is from the Translucent Florals stamp set with a celebratory Happy Birthday sentiment in front of the coordinating ribbon in Lemon Lime Twist. Beautiful bright and cheerful card!

Perennial Lavender a returning favourite!

Made today's card with my team earlier this month as one of our four make 'n take projects! We get together at least once monthly to craft, chat and learn. It's amazing the tidbits you pick up just playing with paper around the table. Everyone brings a good story to share as well. So if you didn't get this paper yet - Perennial Lavender - you're in luck as it's carrying over into our new Annual Catalogue coming out May 1. That's unusual - they almost all retire - but we haven't had near enough fun with it yet!

Perfect masculine card from my March Monthly Card class. This one really shows off the patterned paper in the Let's Go Fishing pack which coordinates with a the Gone Fishing bundle. I haven't used it near enough and it's carrying over into our new Annual Catalogue so yeah - there will be more! The adorable mini cork rounds embellishments are the perfect touch for this card. Big Dimensions with the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder

This Layered Florals embossing folder has so much detail in it! Two sizes and types of flowers, leaves and an incredible amount of dimension. Perfect backdrop for my card that all it needed was a little soft ribbon, greetiing and a few gems to top it off! If you've taken a class with me, you've learned how to use the same punch for your greeting on white as the layer behind it. Just offset them slightly to create a bit of a faux matte. Happy Monday!

Here's this weeks' Elmira Community Living Group project. They loved this promise of Spring with the Easter Bunny just around the corner - no pun intended!

Those are some old leaf punched shapes - you may have this in your stash. I punched 3 different colours times 9 sets for each wreath. Gave some fullness to the greenery.
Easy project for everyone in the group to make resulting in a big hit!
Love using my stamps, punches and dies for home decor projects. What would you create?

A heart-shaped Hot Air Balloon from Lighter than Air

Sharing today's card from my Silver Sister Desiree Spenst. This heart-shaped balloon is a different version of these balloon cards from Lighter than Air. It's a reminder, too, that you don't always need to emboss a full layer to get texture. On Desiree's card, the embossed layer covers about two-thirds of the card front. I really like a vellum layer to show off what's behind and add some soft dimension, too. Enjoy your weekend!

Cutest Cows on a floating background

Sweet holy cow! This guy is just so darling for any occasion. Leanne Livingstone - another of my Silver Sisters - from SK sent me today's entry in our swap. Inspiration from the Inspirational Sketches Stamp Set

Oh such a lovely card featuring Inspirational Sketches with soft Smoky Slate and Basic White accents. Just goes to show you don't have to jazz up a card to make it beautiful and fitting. Today's card comes from my "sister" Tamara Bertram in Edmonton, AB. How do you get that stamping over an embossed layer? You don't...you stamp it first then emboss the layer. Great effect, eh? Thanks Tam for this card perfect for a monthly card class or stamp a stack.

Painted Lavender Bundle in a refreshing layout

Thanks to my friend Diana Langman for today's beautiful card. What I love about this card is how duplicatable the layout is: use your shapes (stitched circles here), a greeting and a focal point all on an embossed layer. The colours are gorgeous as well. Thank Diana for this awesome inspiration!

Notes of Nature Collaging

The Notes of Nature bundle really lends itself to collage stamping with various lined and image elements. Through this technique you're creating your own patterned paper in your colours to coordinate with the embellishments and cardstock in your stash! Suzanne Cadieux sent me this card in a swap - the greeting translates to "Big Hugs" - and shows off many of our neutral colours beautifully. Pebbled Path and Pecan Pie are a great compliment to gold foil and the cork embellishments. Love this!

Cutest Cows

Isn't this cow cute just peeking out of the forest archway? On this one the die is cut in two colours of green and layered together for depth. Makes a pretty backdrop for the punched out cow and I can see using this for arch for a wedding card as well. Anything you want to highlight in the centre there. The flowers around the branches are a really nice touch, too. Enjoy this beautiful card designed and shared with me by Denise Moss.

Lovely & Sweet full on textured card

Whenever I'm in a swap with Elizabeth Green, I know it's going to be multi-layered with loads of texture. I think she nailed this one with Lovely & Sweet Bundle! You can just feel the texture from the picture. Stamping on the white layer then embossing it. The ribbon and the cork rounds are a very textured touch. And with that beautifully coloured flower as the focal point. Thanks, Elizabeth!
