Perched in a Tree for Christmas!

Craftin' Granny, Kelly Pulham shared this card with me at the weekend event. What a great use of the dies and that beautiful bird from Perched in a Tree. The dies are totally stand along but as a bundle with the bird (which is still available after January 4!), you've got a winner here for any time of the year. Thanks Kelly!

Santa Claus is coming to town!

Over the next week, I'm so pleased to share cards I received in swaps at the November 26 Business Builders stamping event held in Cambridge, ON.

First up is this adorable Christmas card that was inspired by Dawn Griffith a leading demonstrator in the US. So darn cute! Anytime you have a "scene" to create, this lower flap fold design is a great layout.

Tearing Paper Technique

When I received this card in the mail for our team swap from Dawn M, I was blown away by the beauty and simplicity!

I knew my customers would want to know how to make this card! So for Facebook Live November 28, 2022, we made it! I've since seen other versions with tear the DSP and revealing a message and more. Check out the ones made on my live:

And another I made on the weekend when practicing the technique:

Memories & More Cards - Stepped up!

Here's another Memories & More card from my November Kit to Go class. This time with a fun fold for a twist. The card front is scored at 2 1/8" and folded back. I added a 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" piece of Soft Succulent to matte the 3" x 4" card on. But wait! That greeting - "everything beautiful starts with love" was cut out of the 3" x 4" card and popped up behind some rose gold glimmer paper. Just showing how you can step up the Memories & More cards just a bit. Enjoy!

The Nuts About Squirrels stamp set is the one Jane on my team chose when she signed up to be our Creative Ambassador for the month of November. The stamp set is a "two-step stamping" technique one. That's where you use two separate stamps layered together with the same inks or not to complete an image. In this case the leaves (the outline is one stamp and the veins of the leaves another) and the squirrel.

Aren't these fun colours? Thanks, Jane!

Rounding out the week on Fitting Florets Collection!

Rounding out this week's posts I have a treat for you! Not one but two fun fold cards.

Card #1 by Diane Hutchinson that is a faux stair step where the oval fits ever so perfectly on the taller segment. Such pretty colours chosen for the floral spray! What a beautiful card to receive.
Card #2 by Lisa Henderson with a different patterned paper from the pack that I haven't featured yet this week! This fun fold is a double gatefold showing off both sides of the patterned paper so nicely. For the front, add an oval and die cut from the paper pack.
Thanks crafters for sending me your beautiful cards to share here! I have more beautiful designs focusing on the bundle with other annual catalogue products to feature in the future! Stay tuned.

And more from Fitting Florets!

Post #4 Featuring the Framed Florets Collection and I hope by now you've had a good look at this beautiful paper. For today's entries, I have:

Card #1 by Dana Hancock who die cut the flowers out of the patterned paper pack and layered together. I really like the pulled threads of the Baker's Twine for a softer feel on the card. More stamping on vellum here inside the intricate oval frame. Beautiful!
Card #2 by Lisa Henderson showing the other oval dies cut and put back in together. Who thinks to do this? And showing off two pieces of the patterned paper using up a 3" x 3 1/2" piece behind the ovals for another bit of depth to the card. So pretty!
The bundle, Framed Florets (Stamp Set and Die) is an early release from the January to April 2023 mini catalogue - yes! The coordinating patterned paper and gold swirl jewels are available while supplies last. So don't delay!

A punched background featuring the Christmas Scottie Builder Punch

I knew when I saw the Christmas Scottie dog punch that I had to have it! He's beyond cute and so versatile for Christmas (I even have a felt Scottie ornament for my Christmas tree) and for dog lovers. Would make a great thinking of you and sympathy card, too.

Here's tonight's What's Up Wednesday Facebook live card:

I went with a patterned paper background and adding the punched images (about 10) all the way around then trimmed off the excess from the 4" x 5 1/4" piece of patterned paper. Reserve one for your focal point on a shape on the front.

This was inspired by another one I made with the Deer Builder punch here which is my submission to the TLC tutorial bundle group I'm involved with. Want to receive the 6 or more card tutorial from me? Just place a monthly order and I will send it to you!

Loving Fitting Florets Collection!

Post #3 Featuring Framed Florets showing versatility with the same paper and die cut.

Card #1 was mine with the two leaf pieces adhered together like a floral spray. The white frame cuts out an oval I could use on another card!
Card #2 was created by Leanne Livingstone using 3 strips of the same paper and adding the greeting stamped in White embossing powder onto vellum with a double bow. Knocked this one out of the park, Leanne! Fabulous!

Fitting Florets Collection

For today's Framed Florets Collection, I am thrilled to share:

Card #1 From Joanne McTavish that I've photographed from the side to show off the fun fold. There's loads of paper on here for a beautiful card you'd be proud to display on your mantel. Joanne used a greeting from the matching stamp set (just available until January 4) called Framed & Festive. And it's heat embossed with gold powder. Truly gorgeous!
Card #2 is from Andrea Estensen showing demonstrating how well the oval coordinates with our Double Oval punch for layering. Sometimes a stamp set has smaller stamps and I don't quite know what to do with them. Andrea has shown that stamping all around in a random way creates your own unique patterned paper. Love the green!

Creative Inkster Escape Monday November 21, 2022!

I love versatility! Especially not having to think up a new card layout every time. For those occasions when I want to create some lovely cards in a snap without having to think out all the sizes and layers.

That was the inspiration for tonight's Creative Escape. Did you catch it? I hope so!

Do you like this one? I so do - it's got a lovely fall feel and let me crack open the package of Leaf Label and Amber Gems I've been hoarding. Yes, I hoard, too! I decided I loved it so much, it's going to be one of my December Monthly Class cards. Want to make 2? Sign up!

And the two others I did on the Facebook live:

If you missed the live - what were you doing? - I'm on FB Live every Monday at 7p ET - so regular you could set an alarm to it. Here's the the replay:

Simple Card with Memories & More Kit

We have these beautiful card sets called Memories & More card pack. What are they? You get a total of 50 double-sided cards in two sizes: 3" x 4" and 4" x 6" plus stickers. There are also pre-cut matching cardbases and envelopes. Here's a card I made using the Texture Chic set. Isn't that card front stunning? I took one of the 4" x 6" cards and cut out the floral image so I could pop it up as an element on the card base. The cards are larger than our standard, 4 1/4" x 6 1/4". What I love most is how easy it is to make cards with a coordinating pack or thick papers and a pair of scissors! No stamping, no dies, no punches needed. This card was from my November 2022 Kit to Go class and it was a big hit!

Not your traditional Christmas card!

Here's my first card of four for the December 13 in-person (or Kit to Go) class! Make 2 of 4 different designs. This is the token "Christmas" card in the class. We'll be colouring in the black and white tree paper. I love how different this is for the holidays.

(For Kit to Go, you provide inks and stamps. All other non-stamped supplies are provided for easy assembly). Class fee: $25 OR $10 with a minimum $40 order.
So.... who's in?

Don't just emboss....sand it for even more of a pop!

Look at the dimension on that Polished Pink layer! Wonder how that was done? Tamara Bertram sent me this in our Silvers swap and shared that she sanded the embossing. What?!?! Great tip to make that pop more than embossing even does. All is Merry & Bright with this added technique. Thanks, Tam!

Fabulous Product Coordination brings this card together!

Boy Stampin' Up! sure does product coordination well, eh? The Fern 3D folder goes perfectly with the Leaves of Holly stamp set and dies for a stunning card in gold and traditional green/red for the holidays. Thanks to my friend Glenda Mollet for sharing this card in our July-December Silver Sisters Swap group. Just love all the extra bits: gold glimmer paper, embellishments and elegant gold trim. Love it!

Learn to love splatters!

Tonight's What's Up Wednesday? card features the A Fish and a Wish stamp set and punch bundle. So the splattering technique with alcohol was just the ticket.

I used 99% Isopropyl Alcohol but lower works, too! It just dries faster the higher the percentage.

Fold Out Stretch Fun Fold

Did I make up the name for this fun fold? You betcha!

Today's card comes from Dana Hancock and is a fun fold. In the first picture, it looks like a standard card but....in the second check out the fold out. What a smile this card will bring to the recipient! Love all the gorgeous snowflake stamping in various colours and the greeting: yep, more sparkle, less stress. Who's with me?

Clean & Simple or Jazzed Up : Your Choice!

Now here's a card layout with options for you! Love to keep it clean and simple with one or two ink colours and Basic White cardstock? Got you covered. Feel the need to add embellishments, embossing and heat embossing? Why we've got that covered, too!

Check out tonight's Creative Escape Room card:

Yes, I elected to go with stepped up! But it's still "simple" in look and feel so achieved my goal.

Snowman Shaker Card

Eek! An adorable snowman shaker card. With our adhesive foam strips, just shape as needed behind the window sheet layer to seal that sequins in and you've got a totally interactive card. I feel like this year, "shaker" cards are the ones our little Allistair will want to play with. The paper is from the Santa Express Suite with trendy images for a "cool" Christmas. Enjoy this cute card from Elizabeth Green.

Framed and Festive for the holidays!

From the limited edition Framed and Festive stamp set together with matching patterned paper and new dies from the Fitting Florets Collection. This is a monochromatic card featuring shades of green (Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen) which are just lovely together! Those little white flowers are starting to grow on me...they are a form of mistletoe I've been told.

Thank you Deb Duval for this very pretty swap card!

Get on those Christmas Cards!

From my friend Cindy Piggot, a beautiful Christmas greeting. The white "half-circle" at the top is where you see the Very Vanilla layer peeking through that slides up to reveal your message. All around the greeting are layers of paper, fold accents and leaves in Evening Evergreen. Thanks, Cindy! A huge reminder to me to get my Christmas card design finalized so they're out in the mail pronto!

Swapping with a Twist!

I participated in this really cool swap through Allison Okamitsu's card class in October!
You mail supplies to one person, receive supplies from another and make a card to mail to yet a 3rd person! How fun is that? Here's the card I made with supplies from Sylvia in SK which I mailed to Caroline in Grimsby, ON. And Sylvia was extra generous with her supplies giving me more than I would normally use on one card! Love how this turned out and I hope Caroline loves receiving it.

If you want to do this, you just need a good 12+ people in the group and give a list of supplies to include (cardbase, layer, 3 embellishments and ribbon). The recipient of the supplies can add to it if they wish.

What's Up Wednesday? The Burnt Wood Technique!

Learn a new technique to take your card making and paper crafting projects to the next level.

Tonight we learned the Burnt Wood Technique which I saw first on Pinterest by Tracey St Louis a sister demonstrator with Stampin' Up! from the Ottawa area here in Ontario. What a great idea: combining 3 inks and dry embossing to achieve a fabulous background:

On this one which I made ahead of the Facebook Live, I used the Pretty Flowers embossing folder but just about any one will do! What's you're looking to achieve...after scoring every 1/2" across the 4" Basic White layer, is some raised images that will take the ink at different heights for super texture.

For all the measurements, step-by-step instructions a few extra how-to's this week, please watch the replay:

Aspen Tree Dies for a beautiful backdrop layer

Today's card is one we did at a Team Stampin' Social. Love designing make 'n take cards for my team of stampers. For this one, my long time friend and team member Wendy did all the die cutting prep work for me. What an awesome gift that was! I have so many kind friends in my life and for whom I am eternally grateful. Thanks, Wendy and we sure did enjoy making this one together with the team. Features the Aspen Tree dies from the July-December mini catalogue available while supplies last.
