Scrapfest 2022!

Got a bunch of scraps lying around? Let's use them up on super simple cards.

Made these during the Creative Escape. Just trimmed some left over bits to between 1/2" x 3/4" strips and laid the out in this patter: 3 vertical and 3 horizontal. Add your greeting and embellishments and done!

Double Gatefold Double Z-Fold

Tried a new fun fold that I was inspired to make from Connie Stewart's post on September 8!
Double gatefold, Double Z-fold fun fold card. Now that's a mouthful! But making it is much easier. 

Here's the one I made before my Facebook live on September 21, 2022. Super simple with a basic focal point on the front. I would highly recommend stamping and adding to the inside, especially if your base is Basic White or Very Vanilla. 

 

During my Facebook Live, I demonstrated how to make this version with colouring with Stampin' Blends. What a great swap card this is going to make.

Oh la la: Foil Paper!

Oh foil paper...so elegant and shiny! I started this card with 5 strips of foil but to be honest, that was a little over the top. So I have included 2 of the patterned paper pieces and 3 foils. It really pops, right? This is the Splendid Day DSP $21 for 12 sheets of 12" x 12". The greeting, ribbon and dies are from the same Suite of products.

This is a great layout for any of your patterned papers. Here are the measurements:

Cardbase: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" and folded in half

Layer: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
5 Strips of 1" x 4"
Scraps of matching cardstock for die cutting the leaf pieces and the label
6" of matching ribbon

Label Me Lovely Punch Trick

Don't you love when a tool can be used in more than one way? Then you've gotta have a go at our punches. As I was planning my Creative Escape Facebook Live, I had a big "aha" moment when I saw how I could use the Label Me Lovely Punch to make a tag topper. Brilliant! The punch is 2 1/8" wide, so an up to 2" strip can fit in and punch out the top. Check out the 3 cards I made using this idea:

On this one with the adorable penguin, I embossed the Polished Pink cardstock first then did the tag topper trick on both ends. Makes a lovely label any length of cardstock!

For this card made with the stamp set A Fish and a Wish, I paired the tag topper trick with the new Very Best Trio punch which made a nice slot in the middle for my ribbon. Stamped on the tag I created and added to the card front.

Christmas Scottie - no just for the holidays!

As with so many of our stamps and bundles, the Christmas Scottie isn't just for the holidays. Great greetings in this set like "You are always loved" and "Happy Birthday" for everyday occasions. I'm drawn to creating this dog in black but with this one, I stamped the square hashtag image (it's about 2" x 2") then punched the dog out. And I thought the frayed white ribbon was a good bed for this guy to rest on. Enjoy!

Color & Contour Card in Foils

Something old...something new...but everything currently available from Stampin' Up!'s webstore! Lucky for me and others with shaky hands when stamping, this two step flower isn't designed to perfectly match up. Gives a watercolor look that I love!

Pumpkin Pie meets Starry Sky!

This seems to be the time of year when I pull out Pumpkin Pie paper and use up my whole pack of 24 sheets! On this card I've paired it with Starry Sky for a really bold contrast. Quite a few layers going on with the Cottage Gingham paper in Pumpkin Pie. I love how this card came together.

Here are the measurements:

Spruced Up Bundle for a non-Christmas Card

Today's card is one we are making at my Spruced Up Avid Stampers class. We were supposed to have that class in August but silly me got COVID instead so we're playing a little catch up this month!

I wanted to show how to use this bundle - Spruced Up - in a way that goes beyond Christmas. It's technically a Christmas stamp set and those squiggly die cuts are actually a string of Christmas lights but they work, right?

Little Critters on your cards

Lots of option when stamping: use the whole image (and who wouldn't want to with this cute critter?) or die cut/punch a portion out. Similarly, embossing folders make great layers, but it's fun to emboss a segment and add it to your project especially when it doubles as your greeting layer! Thinking outside the box a bit today!

Three quick techniques on one card!

For Technique Tuesday this week, I played with the Beauty of Friendship stamp set which honesty hadn't seen ink in quite some time! Beautiful tree and bush images. Great for masculine or all season cards. In fact, I think this would be fabulous for a mini calendar stand to look at all year long!

Here's the card I made ahead of time using the Thinking of You sentiment and Stitched Rectangle Dies:

The vellum cardstock adds a gorgeous layer on its own but run it through an embossing folder for the WOW factor and you've stepped up your project so easily! The patterned paper was black and white, but with Pear Pizzazz ink applied with a Blending Brush, it truly pops!

Relaxation Technique: Colouring!

 h how relaxing it is to colour and on this stamp, I didn't have to worry about staying within the lines. For the smallest flowers, little dots from my Calypso Coral Stampin' Blend did the trick! Adding just a wee bit of Wink of Stella to the wings adds a lovely touch. Enjoy!

Two Step Stamping on a Clean & Simple Card

What a cheery card! The colours, the greeting, the images - they're all so happy!
This is the one I did live on Sep 5 showing how to line up a two step stamped image (note this particular one is designed to be more of a water color without perfect alignment) and stamping off to use 2nd generation ink for a softer look.

Here's the second version with a little stronger colour on the leaf images. I like them both - what do you think?

Sweet Little Songbirds

Lovin' these sweet songbirds... just adorable with the little musical notes. That brick wall was made with one stamp and it's photopolymer so you can see right through to place it evenly. Today IS a special day for me: I get to spend it with my grandson Allistair (and his parents, of course). Have a great Saturday!

Getting Inspired

Sometimes I pick up a stamp set and die bundle for no reason at all...it just "speaks" to me. This Cheerful Basket Bundle on pg 35 of the Annual Catalogue was that one! I love the idea of a basket that you can put different items in and this set has lots of variety: craft supplies, apples (or pears or peaches or berries even I've seen!), hearts for Valentine's Day or any day. And the cat...so adorable! Today's card features the craft supplies and the lovely sentiment, "Inspired by you". Happy Labour Day Weekend! Enjoy it!

Double Stamped Vellum Technique

 

This is such a beautiful card received from my friend Lee in our team swap for August. Stunning! The colours are Basic White and Old Olive with heat embossing on vellum. It's called the Double stamped vellum technique with double layered frames. It's doubly amazing! And, the greeting is heat embossed through the flag die cut in the dry embossed layer. Wow!
