I love that Kathy Howes - who swapped this with me in Vegas by the pool (that was a sight to see by the way!) - used the dies on this one in a very different way than was intended I'm sure! So how are these Happy Birthday dies used differently? Usually we "pop up" die cuts. In this case, the background die (matte version of the words Happy Birthday) was cut out of the ombre paper layer. This shows off the Night of Navy behind that patterned paper and leaves the matte recessed into the patterned paper. Gives a great impression! These "Wanted to Say" dies are then intended to have the detailed version cut in another colour - in this case Basic White and placed onto the matte. Love this subtle difference!
