When you're tying bows and knots, there's nothing like a soft wide ribbon like the Cloud Cover 5/8" Textured Ribbon. This ties like a dream. To mail a card with this thick ribbon, I would likely lie it flat and add a flat faux knot to it. Takes a little of the bulk out.
