Valentine's Treat Holders for Sorority

I had some fun this week making sweet valentine's treat holders. These hold 3 of the thin rectangular Merci chocolates and a gift card. There was a special reason for that: in my Sorority we exchange $25 gift cards at our first meeting in February - sort of a valentine's themed exchange. Not specifically with our secret sister for the year but instead we pass them around the circle as we read a "left-right" game or story and when the story is over, you keep the gift card in your hand. Everyone usually participates but it's optional. I thought these would be perfect to hold our gift cards so no one will keep track of which ones are where!

Spectacular Purple Caterpillar

Ever seen a purple caterpillar? I suppose they come in all sorts of colours and no exception with this stinkin' cute patterned paper: Cute as a Bug! I think my grandson will love this one as purple is his favourite colour these days. Today's card allowed me to use both a large print pattern with lots of white space around and a smaller print one with the flowers all o the same card. To coordinate with the caterpillar, I stamped the words in Gorgeous Grape. Turned out spectacularly!

Celebrating Valentines, Palentines and Galentines Day

One of my cards in an attempt to really stretch the "Valentine" theme of the Made with Love Suite to Anniversary and wedding cards. I think I'll try this with other colours as well. The dotted hearts folder adds so much to the feel of this card.

Remember that Valentine's Day is also "Galentine's" Day and "Palentine's" Day! The latter is the theme of our office potluck on Wednesday, February 11 as we gather to celebrate our friendships in the department in advance of the Family Day long weekend.

Sweet Woolly Friends

Be still my heart....this woolly creature is a treasure! Thinking great for Easter, spring, kids cards - what about you? The stamp set has 18 stamps from greetings to flowers and various accoutrements for the two sheep images. And a coordinating punch. Now that's something I can get behind! I'm really drawn to these swirly butterflies as well. Enjoy!

Fab elegant card showing off the Painterly Pears patterned paper one last time

Such an elegant yet simple card to make. It's so duplicatable, you can make a batch in no time. Often we emboss a layer and adhere it to the front of a card, but for a departure from the norm I embossed the front layer of the card as these cross stitch details will do double duty on the inside of the card front. A matted piece of pattern paper from Painterly Pears (on last chance for $10.20 while supplies last!) adds some gorgeous colour then the large greeting from Layered Thoughts. Those large dies are from Nested Essentials. Looks fab, right?

Darling Snowman Treat Holders

I made these adorable snowmen treat holders for my customers coming to January classes. Aren't they stinkin' cute? Design by Jo did the video I CASE by using the supplies I have on hand: two Circle punches, paper and the So Swirly embossing folder to make it look more like snow. Aren't they darling? They were loved!

Lovely Arrangements Card

Wedding greetings with Valentine's Hearts

How often do you make Wedding cards? Seems like you need one when you need one, right? I wanted to do more with the Endless Love bundle of heart shapes and thought this was a great layout with the floral paper from Beautiful Gallery that I couldn't cut into months ago. The greeting is perfect for this one and the 5/8" Cloud Cover ribbon was a dream to tie. Enjoy!

Quick and Simple Birthday Card layout using a large greeting from With You in Mind

Sharing a Quick and Simple layout with you today that works for all the supplies in your stash. An embossed layer on the card front with some pretty patterned paper matted to the left and a large greeting sprinkled with the loose frosted dots in pink. The stamp set I used was With You in Mind but the Layered Thoughts would work equally well! Enjoy and Happy Friday!

Sponge your way to a beautiful card

 I loved the look of this card on Pinterest so I just had to make one in another colour palette: Coastal Cabana, Secret Sea, Basic White. Black was just too stark a colour in contrast to the Coastal Cabana and Secret Sea, just right! It's a very dark blue and if you haven't used it, give it a whirl! To add more to the card, I sponged over the die cut in Coastal Cabana ink using a Blending Brush and then splattered dots of Secret Sea using the flicking technique with the Stampin' Write marker. You can use any marker or a Stampin' Blend (carefully) to achieve the same look. This would be lovely in neutrals as well!

Collage Stamping Birthday card with Banner Sayings greetings

A pretty Birthday Card to brighten your winter day! The background on the card base was a stamped floral image using my all time fave technique, Collage stamping. With this technique you can use either the same ink as your cardstock (Bubble Bath used here) or Versamark for a lighter look. The patterned paper is 3" tall by 4 1/4" to go right to the edges of the card front. Enjoy!

It's a Hearts of Love Kind of Day

My thanks to Betsy Rouw for sharing this simple and elegant Valentine's Day Card. Sometimes the large words are exactly what you need to convey the message!

This is a new single stamp to add to your stash. The hearts of love embossing folder is in the background and those die cut hearts on the front are actually cut out of the stamped layer to reveal the colour in the layer behind. I love this card!

The Lovely Arrangements bundle featured today in the card made by Bonnie Sanche is so crisp and clean looking with two shades of blue: Cloud Cover and Secret Sea. I love how she used the lattice looking die cut on the layer over a strip of patterned paper all laid onto an embossed layer of Cloud Cover. A beautiful Happy Birthday Card!

A beautiful Birthday Card with spring colours and new products! My thanks to Elizabeth Ames for swapping this one with me. Goes to show several small elements can really pack a WOW by layering them together such as the die cut elements, ribbon and embellishment grouped on the front for texture and dimension. Hearts of Love Embossing Folder is the star of the show

A simple card featuring a large heart where the embossing folder is the star of the show! This one's called Hearts of Love and is new in our January to April Mini catalogue just in time for Valentine's Day. The foam hearts come as an assortment of 3mm and 6mm foam embellishments with thousands - so many they are measured in 28grams of weight. These will be great for shaker cards, too!

Stinkin' Cute Bugs

 A happy gathering of a musical lot of bugs! This paper is just so adorable, right? The "Love You Lots" is one long stamp. And, to add interest to this card, I cut it into three and popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals. Adding an extra embossed layer that is the same as the cardbase colour is flattering to the whole look of this card. Enjoy!

Inspiring Beauty

We enjoyed making this card at my Team Stampin' Social earlier this month. Truly shows off the stunning floral spray from the Brushed with Beauty DSP. It's layered up on a simple card base with the top and bottom triangles being made from a 3" x 3" square placed down first on the card front. The greeting is from Inspiring Imperfections which I haven't inked up in way too long! I think this will be an anniversary card, what do you think?

Silly Safari Birthday Greetings

Look who's popping up to wish a happy birthday! To create this background, I stamped the giraffe first in Tuxedo Black Memento ink, the coloured in the spots and body with Stampin' Blends: Lemon Lolly and Pecan Pie. Afterwards completing this, I steamped the leaves in Granny Apple Green and Garden Green inks, overlapping here and there. The greeting comes from the same stamp set as the giraffe: Silly Safari.

Valentine's Day is coming soon so I've started making a few cards. I mostly send/give to my children and grandson. Here's a card from this month's Avid Stampers Class where we'll make 4 unique cards featuring the Sweet Bugs stamp set and die bundle. The best part? You take home the bundle to make more! A tip for using this Online Exclusive embossing folder called Lovely Stripes: spritz it lightly with water first before running through the Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine. That will keep the paper from tearing as it embosses the ridges. These little bugs are so cute, aren't they?

Being cute as a bug

What do you think of this red caterpillar? I tried a few options - yellow, various greens, just plain white but it needed some creative license in order to bring charm to this layout!  Is this card missing something? Why yes....there's no sentiment on the front. I keep a number of these to have "on hand" for when I need a quick card. Sending happy birthday greetings in January with Hobby Haven

I'm blessed to have loads of friends with birthdays in January! And I love addressing cards and getting them in the mail to send happy greetings. Usually I send them a wee bit early as with the super mailboxes here, people don't get to their mailbox everyday. It's coming here, too, but in my neighbourhood they still deliver the mail to our homes. How lucky for those who are kept inside on cold winter days.

Ink Pad Dragging Technique

Texture, dimension and colour!? Why yes! This was achieved by very lightly dragging the Pecan Pie ink pad across the Sunflower embossed layer layer depositing a little colour here and there. Really brings out the depth of the embossing. To this I added a matte layer and a greeting with some Early Espresso Linen Thread. It was an experiment - and each and every one I made was unique - that turned out magnificently!

Add texture to Patterned Paper layers with embossing!

Add pizzazz to the more neutral patterned papers in your collection with dry embossing. Look for a tighter, smaller embossed pattern for best results. It will give beautiful texture to your layer!
