My fave: Textured Notes

May have already said this...but the Textured Notes stamp set is a must have for beautiful earthy feel cards. Love these two leaves in the set plus the wicker rope basket image. These were stamped off once allowing the coordinating paper on the side really pop. For the smaller leave tucked behind the greeting, I did the "Rock & Roll" technique. Just ink up your stamp with a lighter colour (Lemon Lime Twist used here) then roll the stamp onto a darker ink pad (Mossy Meadow used here). That gives the outside tips of the leaves the darker shade.

Peaceful Pier card "just because"

Featuring this beautiful card from my Silver Sister Shauna Mikuliak which is briming with techniques, texture and layers: The stamp set is Peacful Pier stamped with soft shading added. A little masking in there to get the defined lines around the focal point and all layered up over the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder. That's my go to folder, folks! Got yours? This makes a great card for any occasion especially "just because".

Notes of appreciation with Botanical Textures

In a busy world where we're all working hard to get it all done, a note of appreciation would sure go a long way, right? I recently made a pack of thank you / celebration cards for my boss to send to staff in recognition of 20+ years of service in municipal government. That speaks to dedication, right? And we actually got a note back from some saying how much they appreciated being - well - appreciated! Let's spread some of that loveliness around in the world.

Celebratory Sips while catching up on a fave TV show

Why hello, Friday! Thanks for coming around again. Don't we just love our weekends in the summer with cool drinks, hot sun and relaxing? I'll be indulging in a "celebratory sip" after the end of the work week as I catch up on my fave show of the summer, Dexter Resurrection. Do you have a fave show you binge watch or wait for it to come out weekly? It's good to have something to look forward to LOL. Enjoy the weekend!

Drusy Embellishments just the ticket on this card!

For my friend who loves all things "pink". Perfect card, right? A large greeting is nicely balanced with the Mini Corrugated embossed layer behind. These are sold out, but anything embossed goes here. Then all it needed for pop and sparkle was the Drusy Embellishments. These are larger than rhinestones and usually I wonder how I can use them. Really worked here. Enjoy!

Beautiful Gallery Card

Soft and elegant card with a fun fold twist! I'd put an extra piece of white on the back for your message so the pretty stamping shows through without a written message.

This patterns is from the Beautiful Gallery DSP pack and wow - such gorgeous photographic images to really shine on a card. I like this one for a wedding, anniversary or sympathy/thinking of you.

August 5 Deals & New Products

Cards & Scrapbook Pages with Everday Happiness

We've got some great scrapbooking paper packs that are also perfect for cards. This is one: Everyday Happiness. I love the soft colour palette of this pack: Lost Lagoon, Gray Granite, Wild Wheat, Old Olive. While I made an scrapbooking album with this paper, I received this card in a swap at OnStage from Kelly Baxter-Fitzgerald. How beautiful!

Favourite new neutral: Cloud Cover

Featuring the new In Color, Cloud Cover which is a pretty shade between Balmy Blue and Smoky Slate. Aptly named, I guess! It's a great neutral colour to use as a cardbase. The herb die cuts and the greeting come from the Grow with Love Bundle. They look so great in varied colours of green inks - I chose Old Olive. There's a rule of 3 in creating which is demonstrated here: 3 die cuts and 3 embellishments in a triangular shape. So pretty!

Kintsugi Inspirations

Ooh lala! Check out this gorgeous gold adorned patterned paper called Kintsugi Inspirations. What a backdrop for the 4 elements: 2 urns, floral die cut and greeting. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with gold, silver, or platinum. Love how we've tapped into this artform to share in a patterned paper. The two urns are from the coordinating stamp set and stamped in Misty Moonlight ink. Fantastic detail, right? I added the open floral die cut and a greeting suitable to a sympathy or thinking of you card. So beautiful!

Get your sip on this weekend with Celebratory Sips

While making this card here's what I was drawn to: Summer party time! Let's celebrate this long weekend with your cold beverage of choice. What is that for you? I'm a lemonade gal with lots of ice and I wouldn't be adverse to a little splash of vodka or gin.

Stampin' Up!'s Celebratory Sips Suite offers sheets of pre-printed glasses in varied sizes that coordinate with the dies or you can hand cut them out. Once that part was complete, I assembled them onto an embossed layer made from the Mini Corrugated folder (retired). The greeting is from a Hybrid embossing folder called Thoughtful Moments which embosses a variety of greetings AND cuts them out all in one pass. You gotta get this one to take your card making to a new level. Enjoy!

Quick Thank You Cards with Layered Thoughts

Need a quick batch of cards? Consider the Layered Thoughts stamp set with 4 key greetings: Thank You, Thinking of You, Happy Birthday and Love (pairing nicely with you or just on its own!). Stamped my greeting on Basic White and die cut it out with the Textured Notes dies because I'm obsessed with them...but it works equally well on a rectangle or other shape in your stash. For the colour palette, I used a piece of Timeless Plaid DSP to choose: Cajun Craze and Soft Sea Foam. Topped it off with Iridescent Pearls coloured with the Cajun Craze Stampin' Blend - an alcohol based marker. All set with my Thank You cards!

Heartfelt Hexagon Pattern Card

July's monthly card class goers enjoyed this layout which was both decorative and easy to put together. Punch out 6 coordinating patterned papers and layer them onto an embossed piece. I actually used 5 because the top right and bottom left are the same piece, cut in half, and one flipped over. To add a matte to your greeting on White, punch out one in coordinating cardstock, cut it in half and layer behind the stamped one. What a helpful way to use up your scraps. Enjoy!

Collage Stamping featuring Textured Notes

Easy collage stamping technique on today's card with a scrap of patterned paper and a greeting. Sweet and simple! The 3 stamped images are from the Textured Notes stamp set added with Crumb Cake, Pecan Pie and Early Espresso inks. The paper is from this same suite, Woven Textures, flagged at the end. The greeting, fromt he stamp set With You in Mind, perfectly fits on the Modern Oval punch and is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals. The Bough punch is a fave of mine so I tucked a punched leaf behind the oval. Those are Pecan Pie dots from Neutral Matte Dots. Give collage stamping a try...great way to use your stamps to layer up.

Fault Line Card with Mediterranean Blooms

Check out this amazing card! It's called the Fault Line technique and learned it from my friend and Silver Sister Glenda Mollet. Very cool! It involves tearing patterned paper edges to two matching patterns. Tore up the edges slightly with my bone folder to add texture to it all. Turned out quite lovely, I must say!

Add Dimension to your cards with multi-generational stamping and embossing

Today's card was featured in my Textured Notes Avid Stampers Class. The best part of this card was using one stamp with multi-generational stamping to give dimension to the card even before embossing it. What do I mean by multi-generational stamping? When you ink up your stamp and apply that to paper right away, that's 1st generation. If you stamp it off once, that's 2nd generation and so on. Gives the impression you've used more than one ink pad when it's just a change in colour tone. That layer in the middle uses this technique plus embossing after stamping. Love how it all turned out.

Easy Card layout to mass produce

I had a need for a bunch of note cards to complete for a friend, and wow - this layout was perfect! Some tips for copying and mass producing this one:

  • Cut your bases first. Add a white layer to the inside for writing.
  • Cut your patterned paper to 3" wide by 5 1/4" long. Check for orientation so your flowers, or birds or whatever aren't upside down!
  • Cut coordinating cardstock (Old Olive here) to layer the patterned paper on
  • Wrap ribbon around and add to the cardbase
  • From that cardstock layer, punch out a shape (2" circle punch used here)
  • Stamp a greeting onto white cardstock and punch out to layer onto step above (1 3/4" punch used here)
  • Die cut or punch a leave to tuck behind the greeting. Add with dimensionals to pop up
  • Add a gem or rhinestone for pop

Gorgeous Wedding Card featuring Beautiful Gallery DSP

Who doesn't love when the patterned paper does ALL the heavy lifting for you on a card? This is the Beautiful Gallery DSP that comes in 6" x 6" packs of 48. Trim off some of the top/bottom and sides to get the largest image you can to cut into 3 vertical pieces. You could leave it intact but with the Basic Beige layer showing through each strip, you get so much more texture and dimensiona. All it needs is a little ribbon and greeting from Beautiful Motifs. I chose a wedding card - what would you choose with this pattern?

Ink & Embossing with the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder

Awesome colour on today's project! How did she do that?!?! First emboss your cardstock with a 3D folder - something really detailed works best. Then, carefully but smoothly, drag your ink pad along the embossed layer. It's messy so put some scratch paper like our Gridline pad underneath to catch the excess ink. I used the new Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder and Timid Tiger ink. It's a great match with the Misty Moonlight ink and ribbon. The ribbon is a sneak peek from the Sept to Dec Mini. Gorgeous together, I think.

Versatility of the Layered Thoughts Stamp Set

This Layered Thoughts stamp set is so much more versatile for a greetings set than I gave it credit for in the beginning! My advice: just start playing with your sets to see all you can get out of them. Tip for this one is to use Tuxedo Black Memento for the smaller words, "of you", so they stand out on the larger one. With that you can place it on one layer without adding extra white space. My colour palette on this one: Cloud Cover for the cardstock, Poppy Parade for the flowers and greeting, Basic White and Basic Black for the rest. This card makes me happy!

Jelly beans...do you see them, too? These jars are so darn cute! Can you believe it fits 3 on a card front? Multiple images you can stamp inside them and it's a punch. Highlighting the Kintsugi Suite Collection with so many gold accents!

For my July swap card, I decided to focus on the Kintsugi Suite Collection of products. The gold accents really drew me in and I could add to the elements of the Suite using gold emboss powder and dry embossing on gold foil paper. The soft Petal Pink ribbon and stamping works really well with the bold Pretty Peacock from our Regals Collection and the golds. The greeting is perfect as so many different people in my life inspire me on a daily basis!

Pretty card featuring Florals in Bloom

Beautiful pop co colour today featuring Misty Moonlight, Peach Pie and Summer Splash as the colour palette. This is the Florals in Bloom patterned paper with coordinating Pretty Florals stamp set and die bundle. The greeting is from Simply Said. Building a focal point is easy: choose a shape (circle used here) and add die cut or punched images from your stash. I like the multiple layers at play with the Peach Pie embossed strip down the middle, a circle and the greeting on a rectangles. Some layers popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals and others flat on the card front. Just needs a couple of flat pearls to finish it off. Enjoy!

Darling Dinos Slim Line Card

Here's my super adorable slim line card made for the Global Inspiration Stamp Team event this past weekend. This GIST event was Celebration themed and I chose the Darling Dinos stamp set and dies bundle to show off a child's card and gift tag. This set is way beyond littles... everyone loves being a kid so use it for all birthdays and DINO-mite themed activities. The slim line card measures 3 1/2" x 7" and I shared how to make a coordinating envelope out of Basic White cardstock. I made the coordinating tag for the loot bags or to add to the gift bag. Enjoy!

Coordinating Card and Gift Bag featuring Delightful Wishes

After finding the perfect gift bag for my Secret Sister's gift in June, of course had to find a way to make a coordinating card. And was I ever tickled to see that the floral spray from Delightful Wishes was a great match for the flowers on the front of the gift bag! I pulled the same colours in: Soft Sea Foam, Basic White and Highland Heather then added it all to a Lemon Lolly card base. It came together perfectly and she loved the packaging almost as much as the gift inside (which was a package of my cards and a ceramic dog dish for her new addition "Maggie"). So nice when it coordinates so well like that!

Elegant Gold Foil card featuring Kintsugi Suite Collection products

There's nothing more elegant than foil paper on a card. It adds such a special touch whether it's a layer, an embellishent, heat embossing or dry embossing. Wait! Those are all the touches I added to my swap card from Thursday's Stampin' Social with my team. I really love how the Pretty Peacock and Petal Pink colours go so well with gold accents that I really had to go over the top on this card. Everything is from the Kintsugi Suite Collection which has been on back order for quite a while - but trust me it's worth the wait! Tuck this idea away to use with yours arrives!

Layered Thoughts of You

Love to spoil my team with free tutorials and free stuff every month! Today's card is one from my July monthly tutorial - 4 cards to inspire the use of a specific stamp set/bundle OR to be replicated with the products everyone has at home. This card shows off one way to use the two very differently sized greetings found in the Layered Thoughts stamp set Got that one at OnStage in NC back in March and using it a lot more than I expected I would! What I "love" about this greeting is that it's suitable for many occasions because let's face it...we love sending cards to everyone!

Pokemon Go! using cardstock and punches

Today is my son Alec's 27th birthday. Still a kid at heart, he loves video games and Pokemon Go! In honour of that, I made him a special Picachu themed card and decorated the gift bag to suit. Shout out to Karen Titus for the designs found on her blog from 2016. Oh what fun you can have bringing characters to life with punches and cardstock. Have a great birthday, Alec!

The Grow With Love Bundle is on the last chance list so grab this one on your next order for sweet herbs images to add to your projects! The name of the herb appears at the bottom of the image or you can mask it off/avoid inking that part up. For today's card, I stamped the images all over the White card layer then embossed it with Exposed Brick 3D. This gives the whole layer a lot more dimension. My greeting is from the Thoughtful Moments Hybrid embossing folder...it cuts and embosses separate all occasion greetings in differents sizes and fonts. Talk about versatility! That's a must-have staple in your card making arsenal. Enjoy!

Hit it with Collage Stamping!

Collage Stamping today with the Elements of Text stamp set. On the cardbase I stamped a leafe from Textured Notes just all around lightly stamped off in coordinating Pecan Pie ink. It's just barely there. Then on the Basic White layer, I went whole hog with the large circular image from the set with "splotches" in the corners all stamped off in Pecan Pie ink for a whisp of colour. Then on top in full strength Pecan Pie I've laid down the flower from Spotlight on Nature. Any large floral image will do nicely. Layered this onto some Soft Sea Foam then onto the card base. Just needed a few dots in matching Pecan Pie and a greeting for the occasion. A full on textured card!
