January to April Avid Stamper Classes

Sweet Turtle-y Cute Birthday greetings

Finally got to playing with the Turtle-y Cute patterned paper for my swap cards at the recent demo event. I had 15 of these cuties and handed them all out! The paper has several images of turtles perfect for birthdays and all occasions. I used the extremely versatile Everyday Arches to cut out the turtle instead of the coordinating dies this time. Multi-layer cards (this one has 7 including the cardbase) really pack a wow!

I love the flip up card feature on the front where you can write a sweet message. The patterned paper, Knitsugi Inspirations, is stunning! Thanks for swapping with me, Michelle!

Christmas Words Collage Hybrid folder is than than just die cut words!

Made this simple yet elegant card with the Elmira District Community Living group last week. One of 5 cards each participant made. The dove is a beautiful symbol of peace, hope, love and joy. I paired it with Coastal Cabana (at Christmas? I know...right?!?!) on white with a Misty Moonlight cardbase. They loved it and I hope you will, too!

Peace Love & Joy this holiday season

This was my Shoebox Swap card pairing Pretty Peacock with Cherry Cobbler as my colour combo. The Damask Designs embossing folder fitis nicely in with this Traditions of Christmas patterned paper. The greeting's from another suite of products entirely, called Peaceful Garden. Great to draw from a variety of products I've been using this year to make a holiday greeting card for one of the many celebrations taking place in December. Over the past week I've shared the creations of my very talented team (and friends!). We do this quarterly and would welcome you to join in on the fun! Message me to get in on the action!

Jar of Joy Snowman

What could be more fun than this jar of cheer? Thanks to Stacey for designing and sharing how to make this delightful card featuring the Jar of Joy stamp set and coordinating Jar Builder Punch. In this stamp set there are several images to pop into the jar making it a great choice for cards, tags, wrapping paper, scrapbooking and more! This reminds me of a snowglobe.

Stunning Snowflake card featuring the Delicate Pines Bundle

What a stunning statement this large snowflake makes on a holiday card! Jane designed and shared this at the November Shoebox Swap day showing us how to use two-step stamping (three actually!) with adding various elements of the snowflake in Old Olive and Shaded Spruce. Wow - just wow! The background layer is coordinating patterned paper with a hint of Cherry Cobbler berries here and there. Great card!

Thanks to Wendy for designing this gorgeous multi-layer card for our November Shoebox Swap. See that embossing folder with tone-on-tone for the base? It's called Forever Plaid and aptly named as it's a forever favourite! Looks great on any project. Wendy incorporated the Branching out nesting dies, pine needles and berry sprigs as a pretty collage for the focal point. Great card. Enjoy!

Modern Christmas with Greeting For You Ephemera pack

Holly designed today's card for us to make at the November Shoebox Swap and WOW - so elegant. I love everything about it from black and white with gold accents, the gold hoop and star die cut. It really packs a lot into one creation. The greeting comes from the Greetings for You Ephemera pack. These are all stamped and die cut out for you ready to add to a project. We have other Ephemera pack options, but this one is particulately well suited to holiday cards with gold. You gotta get it #166208 $11.75 for 6 sheets of greetings!

Two projects from one Gingerbread man!

A super cute way to use both of the Gingerbread figures that cut out from the Gingerbread Man dies! My team member Dawn designed these great projects for our November Shoebox Swap. One we used on a card and the other as the front of a treat holder. Lots of accoutrements like a hat, word bubble, tie, scarf and more comes with this bundle making it a great value for using beyond the holidays. Enjoy!

Fluffy Squirrel Monday Card

One more with the adorable Fluffy Squirrel stamp set and punch bundle inspired to share today as the snow is gone, the leaves are gone and it's still looking quick "fall-ish" out there! They continue to "squirrel away" their stash for the winter dashing among the fallen branches and leaves that are to be picked up in the coming weeks. I do love the fall colours and will miss their splendour. Grateful to live where we see 4 seasons. Happy Monday!

Easy no stamping card with Christmas Tags and More

A completely no stamping card anyone can make! The Christmas Tags and More patterned paper pack has 8 sheets of 4 different patterns and this is one of them with the ornaments printed out. For the greeting, I used a new favourite Christmas Words Collage Hybrid embossing folder that cuts AND embosses in one pass through the Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine (also fits other brands). The folder is 6" x 6" and comes with 20 different greetings in one pass. Great value!

Branching Out Dies make the Triple Stamping layout quick and simple

The Branching Out dies are a game changer - and time saver - for this layout. In the past, I'd cut separate layers out for the Old Olive and the DSP. Not anymore! One layer of Old Olive cardstock cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" uses 2 of these amazing dies and one layer of patterned paper cut at 4" x 5 1/4" with 2 other of the dies chopped out of its centre. Layers up like a dream!

Birthday or Christmas?

Today's card is perfect as a birthday or Christmas card. I chose to go with an embossed greeting from Simply Said - a stamp set with ten everyday greetings that I use all the time! If you don't have it - I highly recommend it. The embossing folder is called Peaceful Greenery and has a blank space in the middle for a greeting or cover it up with your favourite patterned paper or a die cut as shown here. I love the gold accents and know just who is going to get this card in December!

Elegant Modern Christmas Card

Last night I met with a new group of stampers to make Christmas and Birthday cards. Here's the first design featuring the Modern Christmas Suite brimming with charm and elegance in black, white and gold. The greeting fit perfectlly on the ornament die cut and it had to be embossed with gold powder to compliment. This card comes together very quickly using the various patterns in the paper pack. Enjoy!

Elegant Pines Snowflake Suite in Silver Foil and Pool Party

Such sparkle and shine with silver foil, Pool Party and Basic White cardstock - wow! This snowflake comes from the Elegant Pines Snowflake Suite with layers and layers of love. When it comes to Christmas cards, lots of choices of silver or gold accents and our foil paper never disappoints. There's a bellyband in Pool Party to slide off to reveal the inside of this pretty gatefold card. Received this on in a swap and I think I'd add a holiday greeting along the bellyband using some emboss powder to finish it off. Enjoy!

Branching Out Detailed Card for the holidays

I love the detail on the acorn die cuts shown on this card from my October Avid Stampers Class. The branches and sprigs also add a lot of dimension and texture. To make the berries on the end of the Pecan Pie sprigs really stand out, colour in with the Dark Red or Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blend. I created a frame around that layer using two of the Branching Out rectangular dies alternatively layer your patterned paper on top. This card is a showstopper or depth!

Full on Christmas card making? Yep that's what's happening at my house tonight for Monthly Card Class! Everyone makes 6 cards (2 of 3 designs) and here's one of them. No stamping at all on these cards as the greetings will all be from the Christmas Words Collage Hybrid embossing folder. Die cuts and embosses 20 greetings in one pass using a 6" x 6" piece of cardstock. Some of the greetings are suitable beyond the holidays like "With Love" , "Wonder", and "Let it Snow". I'm excited cuz there's even snow on the ground for Holiday Card making night!

And I don't know about you...but often our snow doesn't arrive until the new year so sending snowman cards is a winter-thing here. Eye-catching Elegant Pine Snowflakes Swap Card

Received this beautiful card in a swap from Suzanne Netz from B.C., Canada. That little tag on the right is so darling...slides inside the front square layer and reveals a hidden message for the recipient. The design shows off 4 of the patterned papers in the Elegant Pine Snowflakes patterned paper pack with a myriad of shades of greens with Cherry Cobbler berries. What an eye-catching card!

Sending Congratulations!

Even though it's autumn and we're gearing up for Christmas, my monthly card class attendees do enjoy floral cards. The surprise on this card is only half the white inside is embossed so you having a spot on the left hand side to write your message covered by the left front flap. Lots of reasons to send congrats cards: on a new job, completing a course, earning a special accolade, gaining distinction for excelling at what you love best, proposals of all kinds and more. And the flowers are a great backdrop for this occasion.

Step up that Beautiful Gallery card

Birthday wishes are one of the most common ones I'll send out so I make a lot of these! While this one started out really simple with a 3 x 3 piece of patterned paper on the front of an embossed layer, I decided to step it up a bit by cutting the square into 3 equal panels - horizontally - and matting it on a matching piece of cardstock. With a little ribbon behind the greeting it has some sparkle and shine without adding bulk to the card for mailing which is a bonus!

Kintsugi Inspirations Elegance

Simple card with gold accents which never disappoint for bringing elegance to your project. The Christmas Words Hybrid Embossing Folder was used to cut and emboss the greeting in gold foil. The urn and paper are from Kintsugi Inspirations paper pack with gorgeous accents. This one went together in a snap which is my kind of card!

Painterly Pears Sympathy Card

This pear image was just what I was looking for when designing this sympathy card. Simple, elegant, timeless. I combined stamping and colouring the two pears on stems with its coordinating patterned paper to fill out the front of the card. In hindsight, I think either would work just as nicely down the centre of the card. Simple is often the way to go with sympathy cards with a heartfelt message on the inside.

Joy card featuring Party Alphabet Dies

And now for a more traditional Christmas card! I made this for a virtual event on October 25 celebratiing those who donated towards my Fundraiser. Donations and my commission went towards card kits for teens to be handed out through a local charity called Emma's Toy Drive who partners with Guelph & Wellington Women in Crisis. My thanks to all those who donated to help me exceed my goal. I will do this again next year!

Happy Hallowe'en!

My post is a little later today as I have shared this project with my tablemates at the Stratford Crop event. Wanted to make sure they got there to see it before I posted it! Each has their name on it and in a black or white frame. I was looking for a project that would use up this fabulous Spooky Sweet patterned paper left over from making my halloween cards and the Elmira project shown yesterday. This was just the ticket. Let me know what you think!

Happy Halloween Project for the Avenues Day Program

Here's my Community Living project from this week. My biggest joy was seeing that the participants were all able to put this together with very little assistance from their support workers. Such a great project for enhancing skills and boosting self confidence. I put the base together with the white squares then they were able to add the orange squares overtop with dimensionals and following a printed image to see where each of the pieces went. Some changes them up, too, making it truly their own. This was a great class!

Heat embossed Fluffy Squirrels

Tried heat embossing the two-step squirrel stamp and am thrilled with how it turned out! Gave it lots of shine and a wee bit of texture making it actually look like fur. Next up: make a silver or black heat embossed one. The greeting is from the Christmas Words Hybrid cut in gold foil to match. Oh the squirrel work is nearly done outside as they wrap it up for another season of gathering and nesting before winter hits.

Branching Out Dies for a multi-layered card that rocks!

Multi layers for the win on this card! Here's one we're doing at Avid Stampers Class tonight using so many of the dies in the Branching Out bundle. When layering up a card like this I'll often start at the bottom - the cardbase - and work my way up. For the berries on the Pecan Pie stems, I coloured in with Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends. To create a frame as I did with the Cloud Cover layer here, use nesting dies like the Branching Out ones and cut a large one then a slightly smaller one from the inside of it. And you've got a left over label. Win-Win!

Simple Layout with a big impact using the Gathering Together Suite

Hetty Jones sent me this card in our recent swap. Lovely texture with the Gathering Leaves embossing folder on white behind some multi-shaped banners cut from the Gathering Together patterned paper. This is my kind of card: quick to put together, easy layout and loaded with texture. I think I'll replicate this one for a Monthly card class using some other papers and embellishments. Happy Monday all!

5 by 7 Sympathy Card featuring Painterly Pears

Was on a roll making 5" x 7" cards for a friend this month with this being my very first design. I shared copies with my team for our October swap. The base is 10" x 7" with those cast off pieces kept for other tags, die cuts and labels. So you'll just get one card out of a piece of cardstock but it's worth it! Really shows off the Painterly Pears patterned paper, too. I bordered that with a piece of Petal Pink to off set the Mossy Meadow card base. The card was suitable for any greeting, but having a bunch of sympathy cards ready to go was my plan for this one. Very pleased with how it all turned out.

Joyful Tidings is so versatile - use it for fall and holiday cards!

When investing in a stamp set, I like to know I've got multiple uses for it...the versatility of a product is really important to me! So when I got this beautiful card from my team member Jane featuring Joyful Tidings I was thrilled to know that it makes both a Christmas and autumn card design just by changing up the patterned paper. I just love the colours here and the double bow. Looking forward to seeing how Jane uses this one for holiday cards, too!

Extraordinary Washi Tape and Die - you've got to have this!

Did you know we have Washi Tape again? AND a die to cut out all the amazing images from it? Due back in stock next week, the Extradinary Flora tape and die (sold separately) is a hot commodity for your craft stash. My team member Wendy shared this gorgeous card with us at our October team meeting. The embossing on the front was trimmed from the Glass and Garden folder set and adds a delicate detail to the front. So you're wondering, how do you die cut washi tape? Well it has a backing sheet so you can use the die on it then peel off the individual images to use on your projects. Love this!

Sign of autumn arriving in Canada: Pumpkins on the doorstep

Have you got your pumpkins out yet? Here where I live it's been unbelievably warm for October which has kept me from picking out mine yet. Branching Out in Blackberry Bliss for a change

What do you think of some non-traditional colours used with the Branching Out stamp set and die bundle on this card? I was definitely going for branches, pinecones and pine needles in something other than browns and greens. This one's for my Avid Stampers class at the end of the month and it works for many seasons because let's face it, if you have pine trees and cedars, you've got branches all year round. I used the Damask Designs embossing folder as a backdrop in Blackberry Bliss to round out the colour scheme and bring a rich and regal tone to the card.

5 by 7 inch masculine card featuring Timeless Plaid

Sharing the 3rd 5" x 7" card I recently made for an order. Once again I used a large embossing folder (6" x 8 1/2") for maximum coverage on the front of the card plus some 3" square pieces of Timeless Plaid patterned paper. This was going to be a more masculine card but I couldn't help myself and reached for a retired butterfly punch. I love butterflies...they belong on so many of my creations! The greeting is from the With you in Mind stamp set which you've got to have in your stash stamped and punched out with the To the Point punch. Nicely balanced textures, colours and layers, I think!
