Today's card features the faux tile technique. What's that you say? It's simply scoring cardstock on an angle then turning it to score again to create this tile look. You can do this with your Simply Scored or paper trimmer with the scoring blade. To keep the angle consistent, line up the previously scored line with a line on your tool. Each card will be different! I stamped the images from Botanical Layers after scoring so the grout lines would still show as indented. For the greeting, I used two markers to get Pebbled Path for the "thank you for" and Tahitian Tide for the "everything". Have a wonderful day!

Getting Doggone Friendly!
Love dogs? Then this stamp set is a keeper. One large stamp with various breeds of dogs shown. You can colour some or one to create a focal point. Or if you're really ambitious all of them!. This card was a swap and the designer die cut the image out with the Countryside Corners layering des. What a great card for the dog-lover on your list!

Softly Sophisticated Two Step Stamping & Embossing
For today's card I used the free Softly Sophisticated bundle which is a stamp set and an embossing folder that coordinate beautifully together. Try using the embossing folder with either the embossed or debossed side up. This folder is particularly good for offering two options there. The stamp set has floral accents which are done with two step stamping and 3 greetings. Just beautiful!

Having a Sweet Birthday
As I'm writing this post, I'm planning on having a very sweet birthday in Mexico with my family! What do you love to do on your birthday? For me it's whatever and wherever. As well, it doesn't have to be "on the day" but since we're all in the same place, that's exactly how it will go this year.

May Shades of Stampin' Up! Greens
Green...green...everywhere! I can't believe how many gorgeous shades of green inks we have in the line. On this card I used, Parakeet Party, Granny Apple Green, Old Olive, Pretty Peacock, and Mossy Meadow. Don't look under the greeting label though as that's where the top and bottom stamping meets. Super easy way to show off flowers or leaves or branches and the like in your favourite colours. Enjoy!

Flight & Airy on Layered Florals
I love birds - all birds - but particularly cardinals. This sweet one is from the Flight & Airy patterned paper which is free with a $60 order between now and Feb 29 or while supplies last. There are two whole sheets of the bird this size which you can hand cut out and the label this one's sitting on is another pattern in the pack. So adorable for every day creations. Also featuring a new embossing folder on today's card called Layered Florals 3D. Very detailed.

Sweet Birthday Wishes with Watercolor Melon
Can you just taste the watermelon flavour from this card? Mouth-watering. Love some sweet fruit and always sweet birthday wishes. This is that Watercolor Melon stamp set - free with your $60 order by February 29 (or while supplies last). I love the leave behind the watermelon. The letters are from a new set of Mini Alphabet letters. They come all on one large die vs multiple ones for every letter. Watch for more of this gem of a die!

Many Hands Make Light Work Making Cards
A project I did this week with the Elmira District Community Living Club! Together we made 50 thank you cards for the centre to share with its generous donors and supporters. Many hands definitely make light work because in 30 mins we had them all done. My job was to die the bows and the clients put together these gorgeous cards in a variety of patterns. Great job and great fun!

Tissue Box Cover
Check out this cool creation! What is it, you ask? It's a cover to go over your boring square tissue box. What a way to dress up a room or to gift tissues to a sick friend or family member. Place a minimum $60 in my online store using the host code W4YFG3YX and I'll send you a video tutorial!
It's very easy to make:
- Measure the length, width and height of your tissue box (they're not all the same!)
- Add 1/4" to the width and the height and cut 4 panels.
- Score along the 1/4" extra bits. These will be your tabs. Fold the tabs in.
- Cut a panel for the length/width of the top (usually a square).
- Die cut out a shape at the top so the tissues can be pulle through. I've used an oval, a rectangle, a hexagon. Whatever shape you've got.
- THEN, assemble:
- Put the 4 panels together by adhering the tab of one to the flat edge of the next.
- You should have 4 tabs at the top which will adhere under the lid that has the hole in it.
- Decorate and slide over your tissue box.

My green thumb with Planted Paradise
A card with plants on it is just about as "green thumb" as I get! Love all the greens against clay pots. Very cute card for any occasion. This is from the Planted Paradise stamp set. I like the stitched look of this embossing folder and think it matches nicely. Makes me think of Macrame hanging planters. Enjoy!

It's a watermelon kind of day!
More watercolor melon happiness! Today's card uses the Modern Oval punch to cut out the watermelon. It's the perfect shape. For the leaves on the back, I used 3 ink colours and stamped them in a "round": Pretty Peacock, Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive. I'm kinda lovin' these new Perennial Postage dies for layering up. Adds just the right texture for this fun card. Enjoy!

Step Up Your card with the Filled with Happiness Stamp Set & Modern Label Punch
Oh such a pretty birthday card with soft yellows and balmy blue. Do you see this is all just one stamp?! From the Filled with Happiness stamp set, you stamp the whole image (including the bird!) once on pre-cut patterned paper. Then stamp it on Basic White slightly smaller and in the same colour (Old Olive green used here). Stamp it a third time in coordinating Balmy Blue ink on Balmy Blue cardstock. Using the Modern Label Punch, punch out the centre from the patterned paper and glue your white behind it like a window. Hand cut the bird out and pop it up. Way to take this up a notch or two for a beautiful card layout!

Ice Cream Swirl for a cold day in January!
I do love ice cream - one of my favourite desserts of all time! While the DQ (do you all know what I mean by the DQ?) is closed in lots of places across the country, ours is still open and I can swing by for a cone. Today's card with the Painted 3D folder in the background reminds me of the ice cream swirl texture. Might just pop over even in this frigid weather!
Today's card features the Ice Cream Swirl bundle from the January - April Mini catalogue. It will be a while before we'll have true ice cream weather but if you're like me, ice cream is an anytime of the year treat!

A simple Planted Paradise card
For today's creation, I'm sharing a super easy way to use your favourite leaf or floral stamp and one ink pad. I used the Planted Paradise stamp and Pretty Peacock Ink. The "stamping off" technique is where you ink up your stamp and stamp it onto scrap paper once, twice or more times to get a softer tone of the same ink. On this card you'll see two shades of the leaf. One was achieved by stamping off once before applying to the layer and the other by stamping off twice. The lighter shades were applied first. That left full strenght Pretty Peacock ink for the greeting. I used my new Perennial Postages dies, but a simple rectangle, or other die cut shape from your stash would look just as lovely. Finished it off with a little heart die cut, a double bow with Linen Thread and a few iridescent pearls. Then I popped it up on a corresponding Petal Pink card base.

Patchwork Pieces Dies - prep 2 cards at once!
The Patchwork Pieces dies let you show off your pretty papers so uniquely! For today's card, I cut the patchwork die with solid Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and the Bee Mine patterned paper. This gave me two cards in one: the other card has the patterned pieces in where the solid cardstock shows on this one. How's that for maximizing your work?!

Softly Sophisticated Bundle
Today's card focuses on the best features of the Softly Sophisticated Sale-A-Bration bundle: a coordinating embossing folder and a two-step stamping set. If you're like me, embossing usually involves a full 4" x 5 1/4" layer. Not today: Two 1" x 4 3/4" strips and using the de-bossed side for a shcnage. Three simple layers on a card base for the win. AND, if you have the mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine, you can do these little strips whereas you'll need the regular machine for a full panel. Enjoy!

Monochromatic Autumn Leaves Bundle
Thought I'd share a monochromatic card today featuring the Autumn Leaves bundle. Don't put this "fall" stamp set on the shelf just yet as you definitely don't need to die cut out in fall colours. I love leaves for masculine and more somber sentiments like this one because we make and send cards for all kinds of occasions. I received this beauty from my Silver Sister side-kick Tamara Bertram in Edmonton in the fall. It came at just the right time to lift my spirits and shows off these leaves so beautifully!
