Using the Picture This Dies

The Picture This die set is one you might overlook in the catalogue, but I hope to change your mind on that! They are so versatile for creating both a backdrop with patterned paper as well as die cutting circles to use on other projects. Let me show you what I mean with the card I made Tuesday, July 26:

The gorgeous patterned paper has 6 circle spaces cut out and by using the die on another patterned paper and a piece of cardstock (all measuring 3 3/4" x 5"), I have loads of stitched circles to use. Here are my leftovers to use on future cards:

Sweet Songbird Baby Card

Today's card for the Creative Escape Room is perfect for welcoming a new baby! There's something in the air lately - I've never been to so many baby showers! Love the soft colours of So Saffron paired with Orchid Oasis for a gender neutral welcome.

A quick cut at 2 3/4" on one side of your 4 1/4" x 11" card and you've got your stand up layer. This was based on my team swap card for July:

Oh so cute! Loving the hippo in the bath in all her glory! Hope they love this swap card, too!

The Arrow Fun Fold Card

Looking for that card which really makes a statement? This one will do it: The Arrow Fold card. Grab a bone folder, ruler, pencil and your Paper Trimmer / Simply Scored to get the measurements just so and you'll be making these like a boss! I love how it shows off both sides of the patterned paper and looks like I spent a lot of time making it. Not!

Pick a pretty pattern that has complimentary colours on the back as you will cut a 4" x 5" piece and trim to 3 triangles using the back and the front of the same piece of patterned paper. Love it!

NEW Stair Step Fun Fold Card

Looking for something NEW? This is a great little fun fold and so easy! Show off your favourite patterned papers and even create table favours for your next gathering.

On the back panel measuring 4 1/4" x 3", lay a piece of Basic White to write your greeting on! Bonus is that this card fits in a standard envelope.

July is National Watercolor Month!

Love the look of watercoloring on your projects? They can really bring it up a notch! Here's one way to add watercoloring with all the fancy tools. All you need is: a clean stamping block, a few ink pads and Basic White cardstock. Spritzer - as shown in the video below - is optional. Check out how my card turned out:

Teepee Fun Fold Card

Did you see me demonstrate how to make this card live on Facebook? If not, catch the video below. Looks intimidating but it's super easy and the secret is a velcro dot (from the dollar store, of course!)

There are 3 panels to decorate and I've chosen to show two. The 3rd panel would be ideal for writing your message. Here are the quick measurements then watch the video to for step-by-step instructions on putting it together:

Cardbase: 4" x 8" cardstock plus a 4" x 4" cardstock in matching colour

Decorative Panel: 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" patterned paper (cut two)

Embellish with die cuts and/or punched shapes of your choice!

Split Layer Technique with Video & Supplies List

During tonight's Creative Escape Room, we made two versions of the Split Layer card technique. I loved the first one I saw on Pinterest but then realized how I didn't want to see just a small strip of the patterned paper so I re-jigged and made version 2. Here are the two cards I made on camera (link below):

How cute are these? No measuring to cut....your top layer is 4" x 4" and you cut at whatever angle you like. Then place the top flush with the top of the layer beneath and bottom - you guessed it - with the bottom layer beneath.

As always, I make the same projects ahead of time so here are the other versions featuring some of our FREE patterned paper during Sale-A-Bration (July 1 to August 31, 2022).
